Summer has arrived and the warmer weather invites us to enjoy the next couple of months, relax a little more and spend some quality time with our children or grandchildren—whether they’re young or adults.
In this issue of Well-Advised, children are the focus of two articles. The Page 2 article looks at ways to save for a child’s post-secondary education beyond a Registered Education Savings Plan (RESP). Whether to hand down a vacation property to children during your lifetime or through your will is the topic of an article on Page 4.
Another major theme in this newsletter is retirement planning. We look at both sides of downsizing on Page 1—reasons to leave your home and why you may decide to stay. The Page 3 article points out that learning about wealth planning is a lifelong process, with financial literacy expanding during our retirement years.
Finally, a Page 4 article explains the role of a “trusted contact person” in supporting investors who may be losing their ability to manage their finances.
